A new Quadrupole Mass Spectrometer By Hiden Analytical, a QGA (Quantitative Gas Analyser) was succesfully installed at the University of Padua. The system will be used by the IMPACT Group of prof. Antonella Glisenti.
The group works on heterogeneous catalysis using metal oxides as perovskites and spinels as catalysts. The QGA System will be used for the analysis of exhaust gases from reactions of reverse water gas shift (from H2 and CO2 to H2O and CO), thermochemical carbon dioxide and water splitting (from CO2 and H2O to CO and H2), steam reforming (from CH4 and H2O to CO and H2). Also, we will study both ammonia synthesis and ammonia cracking reaction.
The QGA features an upgrade for corrosive gases, that makes it capable of working with ammonia (up to 100%) and other corrosive gases, as well an gas flows of 100% H2, to look for impurities.
